Welcome to South Downs Solar
Here at South Downs Solar we will help you to choose the right Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels enabling you to generate your own electricity and profit from the Feed-in Tariff. We are an independent Solar PV Panel installer so are not tied to any particular manufacturer. This allows us to give you fair, unbiased advice on which Solar PV Panels to choose. We are members of REAL (Renewable Energy Assurance List) and abide by their code of conduct when helping our customers for a pleasant purchasing and installation experience.
We assist our customers in other ways, namely installing domestic solar hot water systems and providing commercial lighting surveys that can save businesses up to 90% on their electricity costs around lighting, helping you and the Environment. Phone us today on 0800 009 4199 to find out more.
Roof Mounted Systems These are the simplest, most cost effective and most popular way to generate your own electricity. They consist of a number of framed Solar PV Panels mounted onto a southerly facing, pitched roof. The size of the system will be limited by the size of the roof. A typical system will be between 2 and 4kWp although with enough roof space a larger system is possible.
Mounted Solar Arrays Ground mounted systems are becoming increasingly popular where there is not enough roof space for a roof mounted Solar PV system or the roof is not southerly orientated. A simple frame is constructed adjacent to the building and the Solar PV Panels attached. Pergolas and canopies have even been designed using these modules.
Solar Canopies Buildings with south facing glazing can overheat in the summer. A 5kW Solar PV system or larger could act as a sunshade, making the inside temperature more comfortable and generating over 5000kWh per year.
Tracker Systems These follow the sun across the sky throughout the day to maximise performance. This results in up to 40% greater output compared with a static Solar PV Panel system of the same size. Trackers are available in many sizes and, by adding different modules; an almost infinite number of output sizes can be achieved. These are ideal for sites with plenty of land - where the roof-space is not suitable for Solar PV Panels.
